OUR PROCESS
SMOOTH & TRANSPARENT
DISCOVERY CALL
Our process begins with a quick discovery call to understand your goals, needs, and budget. We’ll then schedule an on-site visit to review your plans and gather key site data. This allows us to prepare a proposal and develop a realistic budget. If a design hasn’t been completed, we’ll help create one, finalize selections together, and then move into construction.
SITE VISIT
Next, we’ll meet with you on-site to walk through the space, review any plans, and gather the site data we need to move forward. This visit helps us understand the existing conditions and any unique project requirements. From there, we’ll use what we’ve learned to draft a clear and accurate proposal, along with a budget tailored to your goals and scope of work.
DESIGN
We’ll create a design proposal using the ideas we discussed and the details collected during your site visit. For more intricate projects, architectural or engineering input may be required before finalizing plans. When needed, we collaborate with experienced architects, designers, and engineers who align with our process and help guide each step with clarity and care.
PRE-CONSTRUCTION
Once the proposal is approved and signed, we’ll begin preparing for pre-construction based on your finalized scope of work. This includes confirming logistics, finalizing selections, and coordinating any required permits or documentation. This phase ensures every detail is accounted for so construction can begin smoothly, on time, and with complete clarity.
BUILD
With the design finalized and selections made, we’ll begin the construction phase. Our team manages the entire build process from start to finish—coordinating schedules, materials, and subcontractors to keep everything running smoothly. We’re committed to clear communication, lasting quality, and bringing your vision to life.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
YOUR QUESTIONS - ANSWERED
Do I need a permit to build a garage in Knightdale?
Yes, all new garage builds—whether detached or attached—require permitting through the Town of Knightdale and Wake County. We manage this process from start to finish, including any required zoning reviews, code compliance checks, and inspections. You won’t have to deal with the paperwork—we take care of it all.
Can I add a living space or apartment above my garage?
Absolutely. Many of our Knightdale clients opt for a second-story suite above their garage, either for multigenerational living or rental income. We’ll handle structural planning, fire separation requirements, plumbing, HVAC, and finish work to ensure your upstairs space is livable, legal, and fully personalized.
How large can my custom garage be?
Garage size depends on your lot, setbacks, and HOA rules (if applicable). Most homeowners in Knightdale opt for 2- or 3-car garages, but we also build oversized and specialty layouts. We’ll assess your property and guide you to the most efficient and code-compliant solution for your goals.
What kind of upgrades can I add to a garage build?
Quite a few—depending on your needs. We offer climate control, specialty lighting, custom storage, finished interiors, smart openers, EV charging, and more. We’ll help you prioritize the upgrades that offer the most value for how you plan to use the space.
Will an HOA allow me to build a garage?
Most neighborhoods in Knightdale that have HOAs do allow garages—but there are often architectural review requirements. We’ll coordinate directly with your HOA and submit all needed plans, ensuring everything aligns with local standards and expectations.
What’s the timeline to build a custom garage?
From signed design to final walk-through, most projects take 8 to 14 weeks. This includes time for design development, permitting, and actual construction. Weather, supply chain factors, and added features can affect timing—but we provide clear updates throughout the process.
What’s the average investment for a garage in Knightdale?
Basic two-bay garages typically start in the $45K–$60K range. Builds with finished living space, custom interiors, or advanced systems may reach $120K or more. We offer detailed estimates upfront and will tailor your project to meet your budget and goals.
